🌿 Emotional Movements & the State of Yoga Nirodha
with Denis Perret
Do yoga techniques help us keep disturbing emotions at a distance in order to remain “stable”?
Or can we truly welcome anxiety, frustration, sadness — and stay present with them?
In this online meeting, we will explore:
• whether calm in yoga comes from suppression or from kind awareness
• how to meet our inner states with gentleness, whatever their nature
• the transition from inner agitation to inner peace — from vyutthāna to nirodha (Yoga Sutra III.9)
• why inner peace may be the only true resource for caring for what feels unsettled within us
Inspired by Patanjali’s teaching, we will reflect on the capacity to be fully here and now, regardless of the moment we are living.
The relationship with the Inner Child will also be explored as a meditative way of caring for the part of us that carries emotional sensitivity.
🧘♂️ Denis Perret is a yoga teacher (individual Viniyoga, meditation) and yoga therapist, and has been training yoga teachers for over 20 years. He lives near Grenoble, France.
“I am deeply passionate about the yoga tradition, which beautifully supports the emergence of a new consciousness.”

How to Act Intelligently with Our Emotions
François Lorin
We are not speaking about survival emotions triggered by real danger, but about emotions created—consciously or unconsciously—by thoughts of the past and projections into the future. Trying to control or master these emotions is a mistake. They reveal a painful process rooted in memories, conditioning, and anxiety.
By listening attentively and without judgment, we avoid being carried away by emotions and acting on them, for example in anger. Making peace with this process, without refusal or resistance, allows it to dissolve over time. This open acceptance of emotions and the physical sensations they create is essential for mental and physical balance—what Patanjali calls citta.
Nourishing emotions, such as the perception of beauty or an open heart, can be fully welcomed. Yet vigilance is needed: the desire to repeat pleasant experiences can turn acceptance into appropriation. This strengthens attachment, separation, and the illusion that we can force life to give us what we want.
True intelligence with emotions lies in welcoming whatever arises, with trust and without resistance.
The talk will be held in English.
